Journey

Choose your method

The Journey walks you through it step by step, cube in hand: at each step you recognise your cube's situation among the cases, follow the formula animated on the virtual cube, then validate. Each method keeps its own progress, and you can switch at any time.

To get started · Beginner

Beginner method

7 steps · 28 cases

Solve the cube layer by layer, in 7 steps: the white cross and the first-face corners, the middle-layer edges, then the last, yellow layer. Each step shows you its goal, the cases you may meet and the algorithm for each, animated by the virtual cube while you do it on your own cube.

To keep going · Intermediate · 2-look

2-look CFOP (two looks)

6 steps · 61 cases

The step between the beginner method and CFOP: the white cross, the first two layers by corner-edge pairs (F2L, 41 cases), then the last layer in four looks and only 16 algorithms: the yellow cross (3), the yellow face (7), the corners (2) and the edges (4). All of them are taken as they are from the full OLL and PLL: moving on to CFOP afterwards only means adding more.

CFOP method (Fridrich)

4 steps · 123 cases

The speedcubers' full method, in 4 steps: the white cross, the first two layers by corner-edge pairs (F2L, 41 cases), then the last layer with two algorithms, one for the yellow face (OLL, 57 cases) and one to place the pieces (PLL, 21 cases). More algorithms to learn than the beginner method, but far fewer moves to solve the cube. To get there in stages, start with 2-look CFOP.

How a step goes

  1. Recognise. The step shows its basic situations as thumbnails: you find the one that matches your cube.
  2. Execute. The virtual cube plays the formula move by move, at your pace, while you do it on your cube.
  3. Validate. Once every piece of the step is in place, you validate and move on to the next one.
